Motor Current Analysis
Motor current analysis, or more popularly known as motor current signature analysis (MCSA), is a relatively recent technology designed for the purpose of identifying developing faults in electric motors. When this revolutionized technology was introduced, it effectively replaced other traditional condition monitoring maintenance techniques for performing condition monitoring on electric motors. Because MCSA simply put, offers a more efficient and practical approach.
Through the use of demodulated current spectrum, machinery faults relating to belts, alignment, etc etc are easily identified. To put it simply, MCSA is a process where current readings of the motor/generators are being recorded and analyzed in the frequency domain.
