1-Day Workshop on Intro to Vibration Analysis

SINGAPORE

16-May 2008 OR 17-October 2008

9.00am - 6.00pm

Organized by VIBRO Technologies & Engineering Pte Ltd

(The Lubricants & Vibration Specialist)

Course Fee

S$490.00 per participant

Course Coordinator : Ms Helen Kiew

Workshop Objective

This workshop introduces to participants the basic theory subjects - such as amplitude, frequency, trends, spectrums and more. The subjects are made more understanable through the use of dozens of animations to illustrate the subjects. Most importantly, the focus is kept on how the theory is used in a practical sense.

Workshop Topic

1) What is vibration ?

    • What causes it ?
    • Why measure it ?
    • What does the transducer measure ?
    • What are vibration characteristics ?

2) Conventions

    • What are 'conventions' ?
    • Bearing numbering and conventions.
    • Directional conventions.

3) The 'Characteristics' of vibration

    • Amplitude
      • What does amplitude tell us ?
      • Different units - Displacement, Velocity Accerleration.
    • Frequency
      • What does frequency tell us ?
      • How are frequency and amplitude related ?
      • What is velocity sensitive to ?
      • What is acceleration sensitive to ?

4) Plots - Spectrums [FFT's] and Trends

    • What is a trend ?
    • What is a spectrum ?
    • What tools do we use ?
    • Common spectrum terms?
    • How is a spectrum created ?
    • How is a spectrum analysed ?
    • What is spectrum resolution ?
    • Why is spectrum resolution so critically important ?
    • Beat frequencies - how and why do they occur ?

5) Case Studies & Short Test Questions
